Mirabaud Swiss Bank | Corporate Video Case Study

Window into a pivotal corporate video for HyperJump Productions, our project for Swiss Bank, Mirabaud.

Today I will talk about our project for Mirabaud, a Swiss Bank that requested us to make a corporate video for them in 2022. The project brief was to create a corporate video that established their high ranking directors, owners, as well as executives that were a part of the Dubai branch at the time.

The type of video had to appeal to investors and other branches, and be in a credible format so that people could understand that Mirabaud has established its presence at the highest level in Dubai.

The length of the video would be several minutes long, roughly around 4 to 5 minutes, something that is easy to digest but long enough for sufficient content to be shared with the viewer.

The deadline was relatively rushed. We needed to finalize the projects in less than 2 to 3 weeks, and the level of quality requested from Mirabaud was at the highest level. They needed a video that could showcase their level of quality. If the video was at the highest level, this would reflect the bank was at the highest level, and vice versa.

HyperJump got involved with Mirabaud via email, and due to our portfolio and expertise. They were very impressed; again, a big thing was quality, quality, quality! to tackle their concerns.

We decided to shoot everything with the highest grade cinema cameras, on cinema lenses. We used a RED Dragon cinema camera as our A-cam, the Red Raven as our B-cam, both paired with Dragon sensors and a very complex three-point lighting, as well as additional lights to create ambient shapes and make each setting look richer, with a lot of control.

The problem the client was trying to solve was mainly credibility, and presence within the region. They needed everyone who would be a potential investor to know that Mirabaud is now in Dubai, fully functional, and here are the top executives representing this region.

HyperJump Productions was extensively involved from conceptualization till delivery, and one of the trust factors that allowed Mirabaud to work closely with HyperJump is that HyperJump is a one-stop-shop. Our creative team is in-house, equipment is owned privately in-house, and we physically have all the lights in our equipment storage area.

What's more, we they handle all our Post Production in-house as well, in our office. We have a creative team, a post team and a production team. It was important that there wasn’t a bunch of freelancers and everything outsourced on a project of this scope and scale, and that the project came out of HyperJump, made by our team, which was the same team handling the project.

Due to the naturally perfectionist nature of a Swiss Bank, the production was incredibly meticulous and very cooperative between both sides. We managed to lock down the idea of having a teleprompter and scripting all the important information as dialog that each of the interviewee needs to say to the camera.

Production-wise, we were extremely efficient, ready, and managed to shoot everything at the highest level. We did a location scout a few days before the shoot to be sure that we had the right equipment for the place. We protected our C-stands with tennis balls, as it’s a luxury corporate office and we didn’t want to damage any of the furniture or flooring.

We got smaller, tighter lights, for example the Amaran carpet light from Apurture, which we hung right behind the interviewees as a soft backlight. However, due to the office being quite big, we wanted a much larger key light, which ended up being the Apurture 600 X and a light dome, with some honeycomb to direct the light only to the interviewee's face and allow us to shape the background separately.

We shaped the background with another 300X on a spotlight, with a gobo in the spotlight. This helped us make the area feel more dynamic and beautiful, highlighting the logos creating a sunrise effect, making it look more cinematic and evidently very high-quality.

Paired with all of these technical considerations, post production was very key, as we did not cut corners. We did extensive color grading with the RED's raw footage to really accentuate beautiful skin tones. We mixed and mastered all the audio to the highest level that could be used for web presentations, and we really took our time to build out the narrative with rich B roll that had already been discussed in pre-production, since we’ve already had a script of what dialog each of the interviewee would say.

This project was a massive success. The client absolutely loved the video; it went out internationally to all the different Mirabaud branches. The key lesson we learned from this project is, the more diligence, the more clarity a client allows us to have, and the more preparation we can do with a location scout and really collaborating does truly make a project excelled to the highest level.
